This Sunday Terry Sands will read the story of a blind man named Bartimaeus. Bartimaeus could not work because he could not see; each day he would sit on the ground by the side of the road and beg for money or food. One day Bartimaeus heard people calling out to Jesus as he passed by, and he too called out to Jesus over and over, until Jesus stopped and said “Tell the man to come here.”
The disciples told Bartimaeus “Cheer up! Get to your feet. Jesus is calling you.” The blind man quickly stood up and went to Jesus.
Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man answered, “Teacher, I want to see again.”
Jesus said, “Go. You are healed because of your faith.” At once Bartimaeus was able to see again, and he followed Jesus on the road.
Can you imagine what it was like for Bartimaeus to see for the first time?! Can you imagine what it was like to see the sky or trees or a river for the very first time? To see animals and to see people smile? To finally see the faces of people in your family?
What would it be like to visit a place you love or visit people you love without ever seeing them. With your parents or friends help, try walking outside or in your house with a blindfold on. The next time you walk in the woods or on the beach look around you, and see how beautiful the world is. Look at the autumn leaves and the tiniest shells. Try to see all the beauty in the world as if you were seeing it for the first time, and say “Thanks God!”

You are blessed to be a blessing.
