Acclaimed Latvian harpsichordist Tatjana Vorobyova completes her first visit to New England instruments and venues with a concert at the Annisquam Village Church on Friday evening, October 24 at 7:30 PM. In Gloucester, Vorobyova will perform on the Flemish double manual harpsichord  (8’,8’,4’) built in 1975 by Jeremy Adams and featured in the 2016 exhibit of Adams’s instruments at the Cape Ann Museum. Works of Froberger, d’Angelbert, Buxtehude, and J. S. Bach promise the sonorous, dynamic, nuanced performances that critics have called “cantabile playing of the highest order” (Johan van Veen) and “sterling artistry in gorgeous performance” (Fanfare Magazine).

Vorobyova’s passionate interest in early music led her to study the harpsichord in Oslo and Cologne with Ketil Haugsand and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Hermann Stinders. She lives and works as a freelance harpsichordist in Cologne (Germany), concertizing frequently in Germany and abroad on both harpsichord and clavichord.  Her several recordings (the most recent titled Le Clavecin Poétique) have generated great interest in her unique approach to early works.

The intimacy and resonance of the historical 1830s Village Church make it an ideal venue for chamber and early music. Matched with Vorobyova’s playing, music lovers can experience an evening of exquisite “music that shines effortlessly with just as much fire as sensitivity.” (Concerto Magazine).
