Creation Care Team
Mission Statement
The AVC Creation Care Team strives to be stewards of God’s Creation, modeling and sharing actionable steps to protect and restore our sacred Mother Earth.
Our Goal
To foster sustainable living with earth-friendly choices to live more simply and mindfully as individuals, as a spiritual community, and as stewards of Cape Ann’s natural resources.

Creation Care Team (CCT) Initiatives
- Examining the status of government climate-related initiatives
- CCT has begun to examine federal, state and local efforts that are known to support environmental and climate-related initiatives.
- There are efforts underway to freeze funds, such as the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) climate-related programs, etc., that have successfully incentivized solar energy infrastructure locally.
- In response CCT members are researching these activities and will be encouraging our community to share their thoughts with government leaders.
- Letter Writing Station for AVC coffee hours in the Cove Room with theme H.O.P.E—Help our Planet Earth
- Launching monthly beginning Sunday, March 9th
- CCT members we will have a letter on a topic ready to be signed by congregants, with envelopes and stamps.
- CCT members will research topics and share the details with members.
- Lenten Potluck Schedule & Topics
- Spring’s Lenten Potlucks and speaker series.
- Five Tuesdays: March 11, March 18, March 25, April 1, and April 8.
- Topics include: Residential Solar Installations, City of Gloucester Sustainability Initiatives; and the Gloucester Mayoral Candidates (w/a specific focus on environmental and sustainability issues).
- 2025 Creation Care Team Pilgrimage
- Beginning Ash Wednesday, each daily email will include educational materials and action steps to help us reduce our carbon footprint and care for the earth.
- Native Planting AVC Landscape
- CCT has inquired with a few professional landscapers who specialize in native plant installations and work with non-profits.
- CCT’s goal is to ensure this initiative is educational for all members. A Request for Proposals will be developed and shared with these landscapers and their responses will be reviewed.
- This project is slated to unfold in the 2026 growing season after the patio refurbishment project is completed.
